No one has done a biography of the dudley family before. Did you feel like you were writing about unlikable people at times? I never felt that this ambition was out of a sense of greed, i think often it was a survival instinct almost. There are moments when you fall in love with the figures you're writing about and then moments when they really revolt you. So i was trying to find a balanced way through.
