Are There Any Reasons Why You Might Want to Catch a Beaver?

Beavers are famous for cutting down trees, creating dams and modifying landscapes. But were they seen as a pest in the mediaeval period? There's no evidence of that same ur human animal conflict when beavers were alive. And it might just have been that if you had beavers on your land and you didn't like them, then you could just hunt them down,. make a lovely fur suit out of them - but i've never seen any record of that britoin.
