The Eastern Mediterranean was swarming with longboats and trading vessels, crisscrossing the Aegean. The cultural parents of classical Greece spoke a whole smorgasbord of ancient languages. Inuma Elish and the Atrahasas have so many parallels with the Old Testament that it's surprising they aren't more widely known.
