The Mummification Process in Egypt

Historians have managed to get a fairly decent idea of what embalmers got up to. In fact, the crucial essence of the mummification process is to remove anything from the body that is going to cause it to decay. That meant the removal of certain of the internal organs. The brain was mushed up and then pulled out through the nose. And specifically the liver, lungs, stomach and intestines were removed. Those were then cleansed, dried and separately embalmed before being buried.
