Henry Gaunt's Property Was Destroyed in the Savoy Palace
The savoy palace was destroyed, partly because the rebels who entered the palace didn't realize when they were looting and they were burning gaunt's goods. The barrels that they had rolled on to a pie that they had built in the great hall were filled with gunpowder. It is memorialized in on a plaqe outside the savoy hotel that the savoy palace once stood there. And did john of gaunt then remain unpopular in london in the years after the peasants revolt?
