The Problem With Monarchies
I think often we use them as a sort of lightning conductor, and we let the politicians get away with it. You will find nothing snobbier than some country clubs on the east coast of the US or propping up the crayon bar in Paris. It's just simply not like that. If you were starting a country tomorrow, you wouldn't say we need one family. We'll put them in charge and perpetuity and give them lots of money. But it's what it is.
