Zhou Enlai and the Lin Biao Incident

Zhou Enlai was working late at the Great Hall of the People when he got a call from Lin Biao's daughter. When Zhou told Mao what was going on, it appeared that Mao already knew about Lin's plan. He told Zhou to stand down and wait to see how this played out. According to some accounts, Mao replied to Zhou, The means that Heavens must reign and a woman wants to be wed. Nothing can be done about this. And legend has it sometime in the middle of the night. Lin's plane ran out of fuel and crashed in eastern Mongolian airspace.
