The Government's Recommendations for a Rapid Establishment of Specialist Rape and Sexual Offence Courts

Government is investing £477 million over the next three years to tackle backlog. We fear current ambition of 53,000 cases by March 2025 is not good enough for vulnerable victims and witnesses such as rape survivors. There should be a pilot of judge-only trials which are more economical and would be more timely. Key support workers of rape survivors must also be admitted into court - they're currently often barred from doing that.
