Alexander Solzhenitsyn's Nobel Lecture is one of the most brilliant documents of the 20th century. He describes a primitive human finding some strange object in the wilderness and trying to figure out what it is. So also we, holding art in our hands, confidently consider ourselves to be its masters. Boldly we direct it, we renew, reform, and manifest it.
