There are some obvious themes, such as castles and warfare. Another theme that i think is particularly interestng is that of legend. We're very used to thinking of history as the pursuit of things that actually happened. But in the past, we very quickly forget that people saw history in radically different ways. The most important castles become the foundation stones for britain's myths.
