The Evolution of Race Relations in the UK in the 1980s

The 80s began with a wave of riots in some of britain's largest cities including London Birmingham Liverpool and Bristol. The Skarmon Report which showed the relationship between areas of urban unrest and disadvantage or debt or deprivation was really one of the main impacts of the riots. There were much more complex debates about how we deal with racism ideas of anti-racist education minority broadcasting being written in to channel four's purpose so there were channels for predominantly Asian community channels that started looking experiences of the africa or beer in communities they were called at the time.
