There are two critical ways in which theology supports science. The God of the Old Testament is a law giver, but how much more so for creation? Creation is trustworthy because it's lawful and it's lawful because of God. By the time science becomes its own self-perpetuating enterprise in the 19th century, in a sense, theology is needed. It's like a child leaving home.
