The deserateph is a fanatic language. When people are reading it, they're basically reading in english. It's just that the symbols were all consistent. So you wouldn't have to worry about if an f or a p h made the appropriate sound. There would just be one symbol that made that sound. And it was pretty easy for people to pick up and learn.
