If you wanted to spin up like two nodes locally, youw'ld have to tell them about each other. Traditionally they had a boot strap service you could talk to that was aware of all the other nodes. Ands, i don't know if the underlying if they were planning to go to this, cassandra, kind of modeld wearelike every broker would know.
