Interstate Shipping in Alcohol

The first amendment was ratified by states to prevent national uniformity of laws governing the sale and transportation of alcohol across state lines. In most states, it's illegal for a retailer in that state to buy their inventories from anybody else but an instate wholesaler. The idea of wine coming into the state that doesn't go through the wholesaler or through the retailer, freaks out the wholesalers,. It they lat ino, right? It messes with their little monopoly that they have. And so we're still fighting in the courts to defeat these discriminatory laws that are in place in a number of different states.
