Conscientious Objectors and Military Exemptions in the First World War
Tribunals were incredibly hostile towards conscientious objectors in the First World War. The Second World War shifted the military been taken after tribunals they were largely lawyers, clergymen and local notables. Some of them did have a very very hard time and would be refused exemption or go to prison.
