The Invasion of the Western State in 1209

Late 1208 would mark the death of the jean emperor, Zhang Zhong, after a reign of two decades. His uncle named Wang Yang-Ji was chosen as a new emperor early the following year. The Uyghurs were considered vassals by the Tangud rulers of Western Sha. This dual claim on loyalty acted as a pretext to launch a major invasion of the western state in 1209.
