The Fed's Preference Measure of Inflation
I think that the objective has been pretty clear and very, you know, succinctly stated since the beginning, he's very concerned with beating inflation and restoring price stability. And even though we've seen Fed funds climb above CPI, we know that what they really care about right is core PC. That's their preferred measure of inflation. But we'll see. There are so many people that are better Fed watchers than me. If I had to put myself in Chair Powell's shoes, a pause is waiting. They're just sitting there fingers crossed that that core PC measure trends down then they can say in a couple months where data dependent and the data has showed us that inflation is finally turned
