The Queen and the President of the United States
The queen was an enormously interesting person and a, i think, in a way, despite being a monarch, there was a sort of touching humility about her. She was very good at pricking the bubble of pomposity, and was never pompous herself. In terms of what is known as soft power, she was the most extraordinary asset for us. The fact that the preseent of the united states and so many other world leaders are coming to london next week is testimony both to that, and also to the admiration so many people had for her own personal qualities.
