The Relationship Between Darwin's Theory of Natural Selection and Victorian Society
Darwin's theory of natural selection emerges in Victorian competitive industrial imperial society because it functions to legitimate power relations in that society. The relationship between these two is non innocent, ideological as the Marxists would say and so I found it really liberating in asking myself what do I make of all of this. It turns out to be both fascinating and really hard but wherever one ends up in adjudicating that question you'll have learned a lot about Darwinian natural selection theory about Victorian society.
