The Story of the Country House
The story of the country house can be described as a constant dialogue between two architypes. Sometimes there was a communal idea of how people should live, and at other times people were very much living in public. And that is also a theme, people trying to get away from other people. In the middle ages, land really was equivalent to power because everything in the middle ages required either human or animal force. So i the beginning was it more about the land than the actual building upon the land.
