There are extraordinary Christian thinkers and doers in every century. Bazzled the Great started what we think is the first public hospital with a giant hospital. In canon law of the sixth century, bishops were obliged to build a hospital in their diocese as part of Christian ministry. The tradition of public hospital undoubtedly comes from the church. And there was similar stipulations about cathedrals and schools. We've got our modern sense of what we believe by charity. What else can the Jesus movements kind of be proud of?
