Is There Any More Public Financing of Coal Plants?
There's been about $850 billion spent on building coal plants in the last decade. About a fifth of that is covered by government explicit loans to a coal project. The other four fifths of the dollars go to loans or bonds, goes to companies without explicitly saying it's for a coal plant. So this would be like a big bank giving a company just a general loan or underwriting a company and then the company separately builds a coal power plant.
