The Problem With Ad Retargeting

The idea of what's called ad retargeting is that it uses your search history. If you're Google or may use your shopping history for Amazon and it surfaces ads that appear not in the context of your shopping experience. People just are not trusting companies anymore with their data because if the advertisers have access to it, who else has access to it?
