Is There a New Face of Addiction?

Opioid overdoses have reached record highs in the past couple years, but it also seems to me like media attention to the crisis has peaked maybe half a decade ago. We're finding that increasingly some opioid is mixed with a stimulant like methamphetamine and there are even increasing number of deaths where people are dying of cardiac arrest rather than opioids. Also, there has been a shift in the demographics along certain lines we have seen a dramatic shift with accelerating overdose deaths among black Americans In 2020 that was the first year that black American overdose deaths are past white American overdose deaths.
