"I weighed about 90 pounds soaking wet, so he unsurprisingly succeeded in pushing me backward," says the author. "This huge dog was whimpering and crying and using his whole body to push me away from their bedroom door." The American Mastiff's growl is deeper and more guttural than usual. It also felt like he was saying, I'll mess you up. 'Like an idiot, I chose to be brave,' she writes.
