Is There an Inherent Complexity Problem?
The notion of accidental complexity is something that's not inherent in the problem that the software solves, but arises only for the implementation. If you've ever gone to a gas pump and it says, Hey, don't use your debit card here because this is going to put a hundred dollar hold on your debit card, right? Like a lot, a lot of places will say something like that. They actually say it on the pumps. As a matter of fact, if you book a hotel now, they'll actually tell you not to use a debit card there because they'll hold the funds onyour debit card and your bank account for the entire hotel thing too.
