The article goes on to win the Graham and Dot Award in 1977. It's funny because the article from 1975 really presages the indexing argument to be made 40 plus years later. And individuals should not be investing in mutual funds without being aware of how tough it is to be a successful mutual fund manager if you're an active investor.
