Introduction
Today marks the last day of summer, but North Islanders could be forgiven for not noticing. Relentless downpours have rendered the summer one of the wettest in living memory. A cyclone and two bands of thunderstorms have already caused enormous damage across the North Island. Meteorologists are keeping a close eye on a low pressure forming over Fiji which may have potential to bring more stormy conditions to Aotearoa. What can we learn about the way other countries prepare for tropical cyclones?
