Emmett Till and Mamey Till Mobley National Monument

The Emmett Till and Mamey Till Mobley National Monument will be established at all three sites in Illinois and Mississippi. After more than 200 attempts the first ever anti lynching bill to make lynching a federal crime was just signed last year in 2022. The absence of that bill allowed the vast majority of perpetrators to go unpunished in cases. Those cases were nearly they sell over 6500 racial terror lynchings between 1865 and 1950 so a lot of folks got away with lynching because there was no anti lynching law.
