Competition and Innovation in Microeconomics

In a standard micro economics view of competition, i think the standard view is a little emaciated. There was no proper analysis of the effects of competition on innovation. If you're in the business of catching up at ure and enovating at the frontier, competition is really very important. But glot ale, competition tends to be good, particularly frontier innovation. Competition is less crucile. It's true that you want rents it's good that they have rents, but you don't want that people use these rents to prevent subsequent entry. You don't want enate the rants.
