German Intelligence and the Venlo Incident
British spymaster Thomas Kendrick was arrested by the Gestapo in August 1938. The Germans planted a double agent within Kendrick's network and he survived for 13 years without being uncovered or masked. He made one fatal mistake on the, well, it wasn't fatal for him, fortunately, but one devastating effect. So that's why German intelligence never really succeeded in the war time.
