Labyrinth's Heart: A Novel About Sibling Relationships
Sibling relationships are really central in this trilogy. Gray has an older brother who has died before the books begin and that is a defining part of his experience. There's actually a core of dualism that's sort of baked into the setting on a metaphysical level. Both Lagante and Versenian culture, they have their own ways of conceptualizing the idea of being trans and they're fine with that in their different ways.
