Leroy torrez was an officer in the texas department of public safety, and he was also an army reservist. His lungs were damaged by the burn pits on the military base at which he was stationed. He told his employer that he could no longer carry out the normal duties of his previous job but that he thought that he could be reassigned to another job that would accommodate his lung injury. And the department of publicsafety declined. So a mister torres sued under the uniform services employment and re employment rights act.
