The Chinese Government's Response to President Xi's Visit to the United States

The threats of retaliation started days before the meeting actually happened. The official reaction so far appears to be one of restraint, and also kind of scoffing at the idea that there would be a massive military response. China is trying to position itself as more of a global player. With all of these meetings and all of these visits happening, certainly no coincidence.
