The Importance of Ankle Arthordplasty in Post-Fusion Arthritis
Ankle arthordesis is considered by many to be the standard operative treatment for end-stage ankle arthritis. In the long term, the adjacent joints of the hindfoot, midfoot, and forefoot compensate by increasing their motion. This may result in accelerated development of arthrosis in these joints. The most common joint to undergo post-fusion arthrosis is the subtailor joint. An isolated hindfoot arthritis is due to chronic pesoplanis which is treated with sub Tailor Joint Arthritis.
