Are We Going to Live in Society With King and Queens All the Time?
Many human societies have been much more flexible, moving flexibly and setting up hierarchies. The iceage pre history turns out to be this kind of encyclopaedia of all these wildly different ors of social experiments. We even have cases of slavery being adopted and then abolished by groups that had never in their history practised farming. So instead of this rather drab and uniform picture of what our species is really like, actually it turns out we are originally, if you like, an incredibly playful species.
