The Gesture in China Toward the United States

The Chinese seem to be indicating they're comfortable with meetings that deal with trade, but not so much else. They like the idea that we seem to want to meet with them more than they meet with us. This is dangerous because what we don't have are really good, confident mechanisms that the United States and China could do crisis communications. But we've probably reached the point where knocking on the door doesn't help.
