How Long Should Parents Protect Their Kids From Marriage?

When should people be allowed to give away their kids from marriage to somebody? Well, I didn't give away my daughter until she was 40. As a feminist, I struggle with people giving away as if, you know, daughters of possessions. But the way our generations have been, at least at the very least 18, because we send our kids off to war. And it's not just their daughters. I assume the same thing happens with sons.
