The Origins of Gillulim in the Hebrew Bible

There's no clear noun, lemme lemme, root word gillul anywhere in biblical Hebrew or other Semitic languages. The guess is that the biblical writers took this g-l-l term, gahol, and stuck these vowels in again to make it an object of abhorrence. But they also note that later rabbinic sources will make this argument that you do have a GLL term in Hebrew that has nothing to do with an idol or an object, but it means poop.
