You have to prepare young black boys as they begin to ive what they need to be aware of when they're stopped by the police. We need to shield these children from burdens that have been unfairly placed on them because we have not reckoned with our history. There was a very interesting moment in last november's election cycle where in minneapolis, there was on the ballot the idea of replacing the police department with what i think was being called a department of public safety. The public who voted in that election overwhelmingly rejected the idea because they felt that their own personal security was now on the line.
