Last time we saw two consecutive legislative bodies, the rump parliament and the nominated assembly, abruptly dissolved by men with guns. Despite his reputation as the slayer of parliaments, though, it doesn't really look like oliver cromwell was happy to see either go away. So the entire political system has once again crawled up on to th back of oliver Cromwell. Luckily, john lambert was right there with the instrument of government ready to go.
