Introduction
Alan Shearer joined Newcastle United for a world record fee of £15 million in 1996. He would go on to become one of their greatest ever players, an icon and to this day the Premier League's all-time top goalscorer. In 2009 he was appointed manager after Joe Keneer had been suffering from ill health. Mike Ashley decided that this was the time to send up the Shearer signal.
