The number one change that intermediate weightlifters have to make is just more volume. A hard set is a set taken close to muscular failure. Most people can be progressing at, let's say most of what they need to go up to 15 hard sets per major muscle group each week. For advanced weightlifters, if they're staying natural and they're trying to gain every ounce of strength available to them, they probably are going to have to go as high as 20 or so hard sets per week.
