Indigenous Laws - A New Model of Legal Personhood

In the Australian context, of course, we've never had treaties with Aboriginal people. And so that's the illegitimacy that is at the heart of Water Law in Australia. I'm also doing some work with disability scholars to think about legal personhood again in its relational context. The assumption that the crown can do that is embedded within the idea that water belonged to no one when the British arrived in Australia. So there is a really big challenge for Australia to come to grips with in terms of the Aquin Elias that isat the heart of water ball.
