Is Archaeology Essential to Human History?
We're at a point in our species development where our tenure on this planet is by general consent. What was going on in that 98 presentatime? Were we all battering each other to death, or were we all living as noble savages? We've just got so much more information pouring in from different corners of the globe about what went on over not just the last 30 thousand years, but, you know, the last hundred thousand years. And while we may not be discovering alien civilizations in other star systems, we are discovering these very radically new and different forms of human societies right here under our very feet.
