Introduction
Tarsal tunnel syndrome is a compressive neuropathy of the tibial nerve. Diagnosis can be suspected clinically with burning plantar foot pain. EMG slash nerve conduction studies can help confirm the diagnosis. Treatment is an initial trial of pain management and orthotics. Operative tarsal tunnel release is indicated in patients with persistent symptoms who fail non-operative management.
