Recognizing the Taliban
The united states has said, we don't plan on moving forward with recognition any time soon. Secretary of state blincoln did say during congressional testimony that the talban is the defacto government of afghanistan. That can sometimes be used as a kind of strictly descriptive term, that they are a lot like the government and function that way. But right now it really does not seem like the United States has recognized the talaban.
