The Obstacle to Genetic Diversity in the Mexican Wolf Reintroduction Program

Wolves that disperse directly from the current core reintroduction area are then just dispersing and carrying those same inbred genetics out to new population areas. So it's good and bad because ultimately we want them to repopulate these areas north of I-40, but we also need there to be suitable mates for them to find in these areas. Another option is that they could just basically stop issuing themselves this 10A1A permit to remove wolves,. Or they could just stop removing wolves, nor the high 40, and they would be fully endangered wolves as they are when they crossed that line.
