Shakespeare's Death on the Stage

Shakespeare was remarkably observant and accurate, often in how he described deaths. But do we have any sense of whether that translated on the stage? Was there a sense of trying to make gory deaths, for example, seem realistic? For example, indi in modern interpretations, quite often they are done stylistically or metaphorically. Back in those times, i think it's very difficult to judge what the intent of the writer was or the production was.
